DRT - 1st Responders
9 of us have arrived in Beaumont, Texas, 6 more will be arriving tomorrow. There is no power, no gas, no stores open, people are getting hungry and it is VERY dark at night. While we are assessing the area here, some of our team will be serving meals to the Beaumont community as well as the smaller surrounding communities. Others will be taking chain saws out and helping with the "clean up". We will also help get the relief effort up and running here by Thursday.

DRT is hosting a luncheon meeting with the area congregations tomorrow to see what needs they have so we can match resources and volunteers.

We will be assessing the needs in other areas this week to see where the need is the greatest and where DRT's services and resources can be most beneficial.

People need fed physically as well as spiritually, they need help cleaning up their yards and houses, they need help rebuilding their houses, they need hugs and someone to listen to them, they need someone to pray with them, they need someone to teach them Bible Studies.

It also takes funding:
To purchase the food that is served to thousands each day
To purchase building material for those who have no insurance
For daily necessities for those who have just lost everything in the storm including their job
For fuel to run the generators and propane to run the coolers in the kitchen
