This man lives in Bayou La Batre. He stayed in his house during the hurricane. The water got up to 2" in the "attic"!! Food was taken to him by members of the Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team.
We hear daily of many, many others just like him. These people have nowhere to go so they stay in these molding houses. They need help immediately or sickness will come upon them. There have been many offers from others all across the United States wanting to bring these people into their towns which is very generous. However, these ruined houses are all they have left, most have lived here all their lives, their families and jobs (if they are fortunate enough to still have a job) are all here. It is understandable why they don't want to up and move to another state. This is our opportunity to show them the LOVE OF CHRIST in a very real way by helping them get back on their feet. We give them food, along with the means to cook it and we work on their houses so they can live in them again. While we are doing this, we have the opportunity to share Christ with them. Please pray for these people and those of us working with them.
